I'm sure my blog name begs the question "why the name Render and Roam?" I know that months ago when I first mentioned the name I'd chosen to my husband and my mom, both quickly retorted "how'd you choose that name, and what does it mean?" Catchy as it may be, does it make sense? Well, sure it does-- to me at least!! It stems from my personality, which makes me who I am.
Some of my happiest moments in my life are when I'm giving of myself and helping others. But I can be quite selfish of my time because as an introvert, I need time alone to wander and recharge. It's my balance-- give and recharge. By definition render means provide or give (a service, help, etc.) and roam means to wander or travel with no special plan or purpose. While I love living out part of my purpose in lending with intention, sometimes I have to kind of break away from that purpose and wander out in an adventure to free my mind and spirit. There's just something so fulfilling in that. So much freedom. And then I'm recharged and back again, ready to interact.
Often it's easy to tell when my spirit needs some me time. I'll find myself going out for long drives, turning down roads I've never driven in hopes of seeing something new. Hoping for discoveries of some beautiful landscape that has peace washed all over it. In nature is where I find my peace. It's my spiritual pathway. After my roaming in time alone, I'm so inspired and refreshed! It renews me.
This blog is a way that I give of myself and create. My time wandering helps me come up with content. I hope to lend help in all areas-- life, style, home, health. It's a way that I journey through life constantly motivating myself to be better than I was yesterday. To choose wisely and live a healthier life. It holds me accountable in a sense. It's like public journaling and helps keep me at a good pace, soaking up everything going on at the time and recording it to look back on.
I'm happy to find something that helps me live out my purpose. I'm excited for all the possibilities and the absolute challenge it's already proving to be. It's good for me. I hope it's good for you too!!
And there you have it: Render and Roam-- give of yourself and recharge by wandering, letting your spirit lead you with no special plans.
"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost." -J.R.R. Tolkien
